Written together

Getting to know each other.

It started with a pair of rose-tinted glasses and a desk arranged with floral decor. It turned into novels via text messages, that flowed effortlessly. God knew exactly what He was doing when we walked into each other's lives.

Cambodian white tea was used as a way to prop open the door, and endless conversations kept that same door open. From cultivating long-term memories to sharing treasured old ones, the time we spent chatting was always cherished.

Thank you for the role you have played in our relationship. We've appreciated every single person who has helped nudge us closer together.

Our first official date

“When you know, you know.”

Starting at a bookstore in Kensington, unknowingly both dressed in yellow. After browsing the aisles and sneaking glances at one another, we talked for hours over Italian food. By the river—with Canadian geese and a pair of beavers at our feet—we decided to make it official.

A few favourite details

The little things that feel like us.

01

Who takes out the trash?

Nick!

Nick will take out all of the recycling, compost, and garbage bags in sight; but Michaela and Nick tag-team gathering everthing.

02

Our favourite activity

Photo hunting.

Rock climbing followed by sushi is a beloved weekly rhythm, but photo hunting wins the all-time title— just ahead of gemstone hunting. We get to see how the other views the world and capture that memory together.

03

The best meal

Something we made.

Our stew-making tradition takes the cake: time spent cooking, mixing new spices, and discovering what we create. Nick also makes a mean steak.

The trip we'll never forget

Our engagement trip.

We felt affirmed all over again by God's stunning display in nature. Every little and large moment was, you guessed it, a hoot.

From first hello to forever

Our story, one date at a time.

Every chapter brought us closer to the day we get to celebrate with you.

The first chapter

Rose-tinted glasses & floral decor

A memorable desk, effortless conversation, and the feeling that something extraordinary had just begun.

Our official first date

Yellow, books & the river

A Kensington bookstore, Italian dinner, geese, beavers, and the easiest decision: becoming an official couple.

Our first picnic

Tea in the sunshine

A blanket, a pot of tea, and the kind of quiet afternoon that turns into a long-term memory.

Gondola & photography date

A higher point of view

Mountain air, a gondola ride, and a day spent discovering how beautifully the other sees the world.

Gem Show date

Treasure hunting together

One day after looking through a camera lens, we traded views for gemstones and found even more to marvel at.

First Kinbasket Lake trip

Three days by the water

Our first Kinbasket adventure gave us wild views, slow moments, and another place that would always feel like ours.

A surprise date

Pirate of the River Saskatchewan

A wonderfully unexpected adventure with exactly the sort of title only one of our dates could earn.

Our little household grew

Jr came home

The day we officially introduced Jr to Roma and Julie, and added one more beloved character to our shared story.

Zoo Lights surprise

A winter night that glowed

Nick surprised Michaela with Zoo Lights: a bright, playful date tucked into the middle of a Calgary winter.

Nick's surprise birthday date

Books, gelato, secret sushi & a movie

A Michaela-planned day of favourite things, carefully arranged into one very Nick-and-Michaela celebration.

The easiest yes

Michaela and Nick sharing tea during their Calgary picnic The best gift is having you there

Registry

A honeymoon, a ranch, and a life built together.

Having you with us is the best gift of all! Rather than a list of items, we are asking for monetary gifts instead. We plan to put these gifts toward our upcoming honeymoon and our dream of one day owning a ranch together.

That said, if you have a gift in mind that you would really like to give, we certainly won't say no either.

Thank you! — Michaela & Nick
